Why the gap?
It comes down to where the regulatory floor sits. The U.S. has restricted only a small handful of cosmetic ingredients in decades. The EU and Switzerland restrict well over a thousand. Neither list is the whole story of what makes a formula good — but it tells you how much is left to the brand’s discretion. We’d rather not leave it to discretion. So we build to the higher bar, and show our work.
